Client: Pragmatic Location: Woods, Sussex Group Size: 40 What they said: “...it was good to find out people’s priorities, and what people really care about. The campfire workshop validated what we’re doing, and it broke down barriers and hierarchies. Everyone had a voice, and we came up with some great ideas together. It was a revelation that it’s not just the board who want to talk about these things, people want to collaborate with us.” Tom Chute, People Operations Director Who they are: Pragmatic are an award winning web design agency. In rapidly changing times, Pragmatic felt the need to think about their why. Their CEO had drafted a new purpose: to help our clients succeed, to create a better future. Their question: How do we translate and apply our new purpose into practical ideas and what does it mean for how we work together day-to-day? What happened: After a morning of connecting everyone through making fires and shelters together, at the afternoon campfire workshop people came up with lots of ideas of how to live the values and ideas in the purpose, including working more closely with clients, creating a charity website template, challenging each other to fulfil the values, and arranging walk n talks in nature. |
Client: Sussex Recovery College Location: Self-contained nature site, nr Brighton Group Size: 20 What they said: “I don’t think it could have worked better to be honest” Julie Walters, Clinical Lead Who they are: Sussex Recovery College offer educational courses designed to promote self-management of mental health and recovery. The college wanted to bring their trainers together to celebrate achievements, and look at how they work together. Their questions: How do we generate a stronger, more integrated team, and what do we want our legacy to be? What happened: We start with icebreakers, a fire making session where trainers help each other, and look at the integration and legacy questions around the campfire in the afternoon. The trainers worked together to come up with strong legacy statements: “we would like to liberate people from mental health services, and to be remembered by a student who has turned their life around due to Recovery College.” The feeling was one of shared purpose and a desire for a meaningful legacy, to be honed at further discussions. |
