Making Work Better

Walk-and-talk review sessions that help your team work together better

A guided walk-and-talk workshop for hybrid and distributed teams

• Help your team reflect on the post-Covid way of working
• Strengthen your team’s happiness and wellbeing, so you can overcome challenges and grow together

Covid has transformed the way we work. As the pandemic recedes, individuals, teams and organisations alike are picking themselves up and dusting themselves down, and seeing that the world of work has changed dramatically.

For many organisations it is not clear what working arrangements they should offer their teams - how do you balance the needs of your company and the wellbeing of the individuals in your team?

Covid has also changed our relationship with work as individuals. It shattered lots of assumptions about work - showing us it is possible to work in a way that’s more flexible and balanced with our other needs, and many team members now feel they need this from their employers.

We think businesses could use some help in navigating this tricky territory - including how to balance the needs of organisations, teams and individuals, to build new working arrangements that work for everyone.

with hybrid working and digital acceleration, we needed to disconnect to reconnect; to spend some proper time together.... this was exactly what we needed to reenter collaborative work with stronger connections and more open minds

Walk and talk to make teams work better

Our ‘Making Work Better’ review sessions bring dispersed teams together to talk about how the recent Covid pandemic has changed the way you work, so that you can move forward and find the best working arrangements for everyone.

We take your team for a walk in the beautiful Sussex countryside for a morning (or afternoon) to give you a relaxing and stimulating environment where we facilitate your discussions to help you reflect on the last few years and how it has affected work for you all.

The aim is to reflect on these issues together and try to map out a way that you can respond to this, both as a team and as individuals, in the future.

We can tailor this to your needs, but our suggested programme covers the following areas:

  • Your relationship with each other – including how you communicate as team members
  • Your relationship with work as individuals – what you want out of it and how you each want to work
  • Your work as a team or organisation – the work you do, the way you work as a team and the challenges you face

We have built this format to enable you to have a constructive, open conversation about some potentially difficult themes – for example, some team members may have realised they want to work at home more, some may be feeling disconnected when working from home, and the company may have realised it needs people in the office a certain number of hours a week in order for its teams to function properly.

We give you the space to discuss and resolve these issues in a collaborative and productive way.

We’ll even provide tea and cake on the walk!

How it works

  • We’ll meet you at a train station in East Sussex and lead you on a guided walk into the beautiful Sussex countryside.
  • The walk is either circular or ends at a different train station
  • Using our Make Work Better process we facilitate your team in collaborative and productive conversations
  • Walks are moderate and last 3 to 4 hours, suitable for all levels of fitness
  • We’ll stop on the way for tea and cake
  • Walks are lead by experienced professional facilitators
  • Group sizes: 5 to 25 people

Follow up options

This initial session brings the possibility of various follow up consultancy and coaching sessions, indoors and outside. These include:

  • Individual coaching - to help individuals redefine their relationship with work, and find the best hybrid working arrangements for them within their employer’s parameters
  • Team development - for example to improve your culture, your team relationships and surface practical steps for how you can work together better
  • Organisational consultancy - for example, in helping to develop a hybrid working plan based on the initial session. This might include further planning sessions and/or developing the plan on your behalf
