When you are in the water it demands your full attention, so you become more fully aware of your body and your surroundings.
Being submerged in water brings you 'to your senses'. As you become more fully aware of what is going on in your body and in the environment, your analysing, worrying mind gets a rest. Being in the river is an existential raincheck, it brings you back in touch with the fragility of our existence in a wonderful world, which can give a useful sense of perspective to take back to the office. Starting with a 30 min introduction to the psychological, emotional and physical benefits of wild swimming, this will be followed by a discussion of your individual needs and experience of river swimming. Then a 30 to 45 min guided wild swim Followed by guided group discussion, tea, coffee and open fire cooking welsh cakes. During the session, you will get to explore your relationship with water and the river: what emotions do you have in response to the river? What do you think about the river? What does the river mean to you? You can then think about any changes you might like to make in your relationship to it. And for example, if you feel fear despite being a good swimmer, this workshop will help you develop confidence. Cost is £26.99 Min age: 16 |
