Romancing the Dark
A Night Time Journey into Nature Connection
A hands-on, experiential, outdoors workshop inspired by Bill Plotkin & Geneen Marie Haugen
2017 dates tbc - Stanmer Park, Brighton
To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.
It is not through abstract rational thinking that we are going to fall in love again with the rest of nature.
This is primarily a hands-on, experiential, outdoors workshop, led by Natasha Lythgoe and inspired by her recent training with Bill Plotkin and Geneen Marie Haugen.
It is aimed at developing a kind of honouring, and valuing, of our direct sensory experience: the tastes and smells in the air, the feel of the wind as it caresses the skin, the touch of the ground under our feet as we walk upon it.
As the day turns to dusk, and then night, we will explore how to open up to, and invite a reciprocal, even romantic relationship with the more-than-human world – sensing for example, how the ground itself is feeling your steps as you walk upon it.
The workshop activities will include mindfulness based nature practices, sensory awareness games, a night walk (without head torches), reflective journaling, a smattering of creative writing and a touch of Plotkin inspired ‘encounter’ practice.
It's being held in a great location inside Stanmer Park, and we'll have a fire going. The cost is £24.99.
